We believe that Public Relations (PR) should bring people together. Moreover, we act on that belief. That has had two main outcomes.

First, the creation of the Bromley Buzz podcast, which fills a media gap in the London borough. Bromley is, for the most part, short on other media, with some honourable exceptions. That has recently extended to regular free, all-sector face to face networking meetings called ‘Bromley BuzzUps’. The podcast and meetings and exposure of them in print titles, online, and in other media including BBC Radio London are helping to champion and join up the borough of approximately 340.000 people. Special Guests since the BuzzUps launched have included Kent and Hayes cricketer Alex Blake, the Founder of English Youth Ballet, Janet Lewis OBE; and David Winstanley, CEO of Biggin Hill Airport. Moreover, the podcast is positive, with Cllr Dr David Jefferys, Mayor Of Bromley, a recent guest on the podcast. We enjoy sharing positive news in an era when the news can be so serially negative that many people are shunning it.

Second, the partnership with Clarity Coach Zeenat Noorani to found the Let’s Talk Better campaign. In the last few days, this had its fifth event, in which people are given a safe place in which to listen to, speak about, and share conversations of a breath and depth which is seldom found. This latest event featured the author of ‘The Perfection Trap’, Thomas Curran; a public viewing of the trailer for the movie Dark Revival: The Cycle Of Existence; a stirring talk on identity and self-worth (the title of the event) by therapist Susie K. Brooks; and a n insightful talk on change and emotion by businessman Chandra Sharma of Elmcroft Business Services. We also had the company and artistic support of Beci Ward.

PR is by definition about people being made aware of and relating to things that can make a difference for them, or that they can make a difference to. Both projects are achieving this. Both projects are growing, and more are to come.
